NQ Daily Trade Plan – 2026-09-16

📰 Overnight News — Fed Day Repair Attempt

🏦 #1 — FOMC Decision at 2:00 PM ET

U.S. equity futures stabilized overnight ahead of the Fed rate decision. The bounce is a repair attempt, not a clean risk-on breakout yet, because the market still has to prove acceptance during RTH.

🛢️ #2 — Oil Pullback Helped the Bounce

Oil pulled back slightly from the spike, helping risk sentiment overnight. Still, energy remains elevated and the 10-year yield is near 5%, so tech remains sensitive to failed reclaims.

🤖 #3 — AI / Tech Volatility Still in Background

AI-related weakness is no longer the only overnight driver, but it remains part of the risk backdrop. That keeps NQ more sensitive than ES if buyers fail to hold the reclaimed zones.

🧠 Current Context

NQ remains in a repair / rangebound structure rather than a clean trend environment. Yesterday's RTH session opened around 29420, directly into the 29382-29405 decision zone from our plan. Price could not hold that area, rejected it, and then sold for the first part of the session.

The first flush made an initial low near 29216, then the market bounced back into our 29271-29294 Short Below after failed Bounce zone and rejected it again. The final RTH low was 29227.50, with value building lower: VAH around 29314, POC around 29269, and VAL around 29227. The important detail is that most of the session rotated under 29271-29294. That zone acted like a ceiling after the opening selloff.

Yesterday also left single prints around 29336-29369, with day halfback around 29326-29330. Globex has already repaired a large part of that imbalance, but for RTH confirmation the market still needs to prove acceptance above the same repaired area rather than only tagging it overnight.

Globex opened around 29266, with the prior RTH close around 29277. Price made an overnight low at 29226, almost exactly into yesterday's value low / RTH low area, then bounced hard. The key change overnight is that buyers reclaimed 29271-29294, pushed above yesterday's IB low near 29302, tagged 29353 near previous week low, retested 29294, and then reached the 29382-29405 zone again. Overnight high is around 29398.

That puts today's first decision back at 29382-29405. This zone is now the main pivot area for RTH. Bulls need to reclaim and hold it to keep the repair alive. Bears want another failure from this zone, especially if price starts accepting back below 29382.

📊 Short-Term Structure

The immediate structure is balanced repair inside a larger bearish-to-neutral range. The market has repaired the failed-bounce zone from yesterday, but it is still trading below the Friday data-low / repair level at 29498. That level matters because it is the next real upside checkpoint above 29382-29405.

Above 29405, the upside ladder is 29498 → 29546-29557 → 29628 → 29668 → 29694 → 29771-29782 → 29827. The old bull pivot at 29546-29557 should now be treated as a major reclaim zone and also a risky counter trend short area if price reaches it and fails. A clean push through 29668 would be meaningful because that area also lines up with the gap-close / previous week half reference.

Below 29382, the downside ladder is 29353 → 29314 → 29302 → 29294 → 29271 → 29227-29226 → 29178 → 29092 → 29000 → 28926-28933 → 28844. Losing 29271-29294 would put yesterday's lower distribution back in control and shift the session back toward failed-bounce / breakdown behavior.

🟢 Bullish Strategy

Bulls need to reclaim and hold 29382-29405. If price accepts above that zone, the first upside target is 29498. That is Friday's data-low / repair level and the next place where buyers need to prove continuation.

Above 29498, the next major zone is 29546-29557. This was the old bull pivot and the area that capped the previous upside attempt. If NQ reclaims and holds it today, the repair attempt becomes stronger and can target 29628, then 29668. The 29668 area is important because it lines up with the unclosed gap reference and previous week half. Above 29668, the next upside levels are 29694 and 29771-29782.

If price sells off first, the better long setups are not in the middle of the range. The first important failed-breakdown area is 29271-29294 because that was yesterday's failed-bounce ceiling and overnight reclaim zone. If that area fails and reclaims again, it can produce a long back toward 29382-29405. Below that, 29226-29227 is the overnight low / prior RTH low area. Deeper supports remain 29178, 29092, 29000, 28926-28933, and 28844.

❌ Bearish Strategy

Bears want 29382-29405 to reject again. A failed reclaim from that zone keeps the market trapped below the main pivot and opens rotation back toward 29353, then 29314-29302.

The real bearish confirmation starts if NQ loses 29271-29294 after reclaiming it overnight. That would turn the overnight bounce into a failed repair and put 29227-29226 back in play. Below 29226, continuation targets are 29178 and then 29092. A deeper bearish shift is not fully confirmed unless NQ loses 29092, because that would break below the lower support structure from the prior plan.

Higher resistance shorts remain possible at 29546-29557, 29694, and 29771-29782. These are counter trend / fade areas only, especially ahead of the Fed decision. Shorts into resistance need clear rejection and fast management because pre-Fed repair rallies can squeeze quickly if buyers reclaim the main zones.

✅ Summary

Yesterday opened into 29382-29405, rejected it, and sold into 29227.50. The market then spent most of the session trapped below 29271-29294, making that zone the key failed-bounce ceiling. Globex changed the short-term tone by reclaiming 29271-29294, retesting 29294, and pushing back into 29382-29405 with overnight high around 29398.

Today, 29382-29405 is the main decision zone. Bulls need acceptance above it to attack 29498, then 29546-29557 and 29668. Bears need rejection from it and a loss of 29271-29294 to put yesterday's low and the overnight low back in play. Strength confirms above 29694. Weakness confirms below 29092.
