NQ Daily Trade Plan – 2026-09-28
📰 What’s Driving the Market This Week
The final week of September brings end-of-quarter rebalancing flows alongside multiple Fed speaker appearances. Any commentary that deviates from the post-FOMC narrative — especially on the pace of cuts — could introduce intraday volatility. The tape remains sensitive to Fed headlines.
NQ closed last week at 30891 after the Thursday FBD at 30426 delivered a textbook squeeze. The breakout origin (30426) held perfectly. The new Pivot Bull sits at 30900–30933 — the first meaningful resistance in the near-term structure. Bulls remain in control above 30650.
Quarter-end positioning can produce exaggerated moves in both directions. October historically brings higher volatility. The key question this week: does NQ break above 30933 and extend toward 31000+, or does it digest the September rally before the next leg?
📋 Session Recap Last week's plan delivered on every key level. The Long direct or FBD at 30426 was the standout setup of the week — NQ tagged that level on Thursday and produced a textbook failed breakdown, triggering a powerful squeeze. Price reclaimed the Pivot Bull zone at 30650, confirming structure, then reached the trade idea level at 30677 — holding within a few ticks on Friday before closing the week at 30891. Support called the shots once again. The week closed constructively, with NQ consolidating in the upper portion of the post-FOMC recovery range. 🧠 Current Context The intermediate structure remains bullish above 30426. NQ closed the week at 30891, consolidating just below the new Pivot Bull zone at 30900–30933. The market is in a post-breakout digestion phase — price has not extended to new highs but has held its structure well, moving level to level. The new Pivot Bull is 30900–30933. Above this zone, bulls can target 31000, 31077, and 31150. The Pivot Bear shifts down to 30650–30677 — the prior Bull Pivot that now serves as the key failed-breakdown defense level. As long as NQ holds above 30650, the bullish structure remains intact. One important context element from the daily chart: the run-up from the September lows (29252) to current levels was fast and left behind a thin volume profile in the 29252–30426 range. This means there is very little support structure between 30426 and the September lows — if 30426 fails, price can fall quickly through that zone with minimal resistance. This makes holding above 30426 critical, not just structurally but also from a volume perspective. Additionally, NQ has spent approximately five consecutive sessions consolidating above the 30200 breakout level — the origin of the entire post-FOMC squeeze. This consolidation above the breakout is constructive and typical of a healthy bull structure digesting gains before continuation. On the broader daily chart, NQ is trading inside a broadening formation (megaphone pattern) — a structure defined by expanding higher highs and lower lows. The upper boundary of this pattern converges near 31600, which also aligns with the prior all-time high. That zone represents a significant dual resistance: megaphone upper boundary plus ATH — a key area to watch if bulls extend the move further. The broader structural bias stays firmly BULLISH above 30426. 📊 Short-Term Structure NQ closed at 30891, just below the Pivot Bull zone (30900–30933). Immediate support is at 30882, followed by 30862 and 30777. Below that, the key structural defense sits at 30650–30677 — the Pivot Bear zone and the primary FBD shelf of the session. The 30426 breakout origin remains the most critical level in the structure. Resistance above: 30900–30933 (Pivot Bull), then 31000, 31077, 31150, 31226, 31270, and 31395. 🟢 Bullish Strategy Bulls want to see price hold above 30882 or produce a quick trap below it followed by a fast recovery. A hold above 30900 opens the path toward 31000, 31077, and 31150 directly. The cleanest long setups come from pullbacks. A failed breakdown at 30862 or 30882 that quickly reclaims 30900 offers a low-risk entry targeting 31000. The primary FBD shelf is 30650–30677 — if price dips to that zone and recovers, it represents the highest-probability long setup of the week, with full recovery targeting 30882, 31000, and higher. The 30426 breakout origin remains available for a deeper backtest scenario. A failed breakdown there continues to be the highest-conviction long in the structure. ❌ Bearish Strategy There is no structural bear case above 30426. Bears need sustained failure below 30650 and then 30426 to regain any meaningful control. Counter-trend shorts at 31068 and 31226 carry low win rates in this environment. Any breakdown below 30212 would ideally come after a bounce attempt that fails, offering a cleaner Short Beneath Bounce setup. ✅ Summary NQ closed the week at 30891, just below the new Pivot Bull at 30900–30933. The structural bias remains bullish above 30426. The best long setups come from failed breakdowns at 30882, 30650–30677, or 30426. A hold above 30900 opens the path toward 31000, 31077, and 31150. Bears have no structural case unless 30650 fails and 30426 cannot hold. React level to level.
