What Is a Fair Value Gap?
A Fair Value Gap (FVG) is a three-candle displacement pattern where a strong middle candle leaves an imbalance between the wick of the first and third candles. These zones represent areas where price moved too fast — institutions tend to return to fill them, making FVGs high-probability reaction areas.
Gap between candle 1 high and candle 3 low. Price left an unfilled zone to the upside — potential support on retest.
Gap between candle 1 low and candle 3 high. Price left an unfilled zone to the downside — potential resistance on retest.
Features
Auto FVG detection — bullish and bearish gaps detected on every bar close
Wick touch detection — zone changes color when price wicks into it but closes outside (zone still active)
Mitigation tracking — zone is automatically removed when price closes through it
Inverse FVG — highlights the most recently mitigated zone in a separate color (the “used” FVG that often acts as future S/R)
Fully customizable — colors, gap size, body filter, max zones per side, lookback bars
Works on any instrument and timeframe — NQ, ES, MNQ, MES, stocks, forex
