Trade Timer Box: Free NinjaTrader Indicator for Tracking Trade Duration and Micro-Scalping Risk

Trade Timer Box is a free NinjaTrader indicator built to help traders monitor how long they stay in trades, track average hold time, and identify whether their trading behavior may conflict with common prop firm micro-scalping rules.

Why Trade Duration Matters

Many traders focus only on entries, exits, targets, and drawdown. But in prop firm trading, trade duration can also matter.

Some prop firms monitor very short-duration trades, especially when a large portion of total trades or gross winning profit comes from trades held only a few seconds. This is often referred to as micro-scalping behavior.

Built for Prop Firm Rule Awareness

Trade Timer Box is especially useful for traders working with prop firms that have rules around micro-scalping or excessive short-duration trading.

For example, firms such as Funded Futures Family may monitor whether too much trading activity or gross winning profit comes from very short trades. This indicator gives traders a cleaner way to see those numbers directly on the chart before the behavior becomes a potential issue.

What Trade Timer Box Does

⏱ Real-Time Trade Timer

Shows the active trade hold time directly on the chart while the position is open.

πŸ“Š Trade State Tracking

Tracks whether the account is currently LONG, SHORT, or FLAT.

πŸ“ˆ Average Hold Time

Calculates average duration for all completed trades after they close.

βœ… Winner vs Loser Timing

Separates average winning trade duration from average losing trade duration.

Micro-Scalping Monitor

The indicator includes a dedicated micro-scalping monitor. Traders can define their own threshold in seconds, such as 20 seconds, and the dashboard will track completed trades that closed at or below that duration.

Micro Trade %

Shows what percentage of total completed trades were closed at or below the user-defined micro-trade threshold.

Micro Profit %

Shows what percentage of gross winning profit came from trades that qualify as micro trades.

Potential Breach Warning

If either value goes above 50%, the dashboard flags it as a potential prop firm rule-risk warning.

Key Features

  • Real-time trade duration timer
  • LONG, SHORT, and FLAT state tracking
  • Average hold time for all completed trades
  • Separate average hold time for winning and losing trades
  • Micro-scalping threshold based on user-defined seconds
  • Micro trade percentage tracking
  • Micro profit percentage tracking
  • Breach warning for prop firm-style rules
  • Clean on-chart dashboard
  • Account selector support

Example Use Case

A trader can set the micro-scalping threshold to 20 seconds. From that point, the indicator tracks how many completed trades closed at or below 20 seconds.

It also calculates how much of the trader’s gross winning profit came from those short-duration trades. If the percentage becomes too concentrated, the dashboard marks it as a potential warning.
